Five days after the requisition of a building Dal35 Fern Street to accommodate the people on the street, we especially thank those organizations come show their support, sometimes small, but warm, supportive and effective. We have received a significant number but still not enough mattresses and blankets. Occupants, for the vast majority of asylum seekers, do not break the cold at 280 rue de Fougères. This unheated building remains preferable to the street.
citizens respectful of the principles of the Republic and for equality and solidarity that still have meaning, also came to get news and provide support. These visits demonstrate and reinforce the legitimacy of our struggle for the prefecture just obeying the law.
But we do not thank the City of Rennes : despite repeated assertions of some elected officials in private about the support they could provide, despite statements of principle to be offended by the attitude of the prefecture at the requisition of Postel, we note with bitterness that so far whatsoever, no action have been considered by the City Council.
Indeed, despite our various stresses, City Hall is conspicuously absent, no visitation, no support to logistics (blankets, trash cans ...). Passive accomplice, political choice? Incomprehensible attitude to say the least. If the jurisdiction of the housing of asylum seekers is state jurisdiction, the City Council is responsible for people living on its territory and responsible for respecting the values of the Republic, beginning with respect for laws, human rights, and equality of all before the law.
These beings people, families, children, sick people on the street!
